2015 Ford F150 Vs. Chevrolet Silverado 1500 | Hauling, Fuel Efficiency & Technology

Automotive Articles

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and the Ford F-150 are known to be very similar trucks. If you're torn between the two of them, you want to know all of the differences and similarities so you can pick the one that is best for you. Even the price and body style are nearly identical, so what is the difference other than their manufacturer? Here is everything you need to know about the 2015 1500 vs. F-150.

Hauling

If you plan on towing or hauling things in the bed of your truck, you need to pick a truck that can handle your needs. The 2015 Ford F150 can tow and haul slightly more than the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500. Unless you constantly fill your truck to capacity, it isn't a huge difference. The 1500 can tow 11,800 pounds and the F 150 can tow 12,000 pounds. As for the payload in the bed of the truck; the F150 can haul 3,300 pounds, and the 1500 can haul 2,210 pounds. Both numbers are impressive, but the Ford comes out ahead.

Fuel Efficiency

Fuel efficiency is important to almost every car and truck owner. The two trucks differ when it comes to gas mileage. Both trucks have a base model with a V-6 engine. Both engines are 3.5-liter units with 283 horsepower. The Silverado also has a 4.3-liter option with 285 horsepower. That option will give you 24mpg on the highway and 18mpg driving through the city, which is the same gas mileage as the F150s 283 horsepower, 3.5-liter option. It would make sense to opt for the slightly larger engine in the Silverado to receive the same gas mileage as the F-150's smaller counterpart.

The F150 has another option, which is a 325 horsepower Ecoboost V-6. It holds 2.7 liters of fuel and gets 19mpg city and 26mpg highway. It's not much of a difference in terms of mileage and you'd have to fill up more often, but the horsepower might be worth it to you. If you want to go for the V-8, both trucks have the option. The F150 has a 385 horsepower V8 that gets 15mpg city and 21mpg highway. The Silverado's V-8 wins this battle with a 420 horsepower engine. The best part is, it gets the same 15/21mpg mileage that the F150's V-8 receives.

Technology

These days, technology is important when it comes to a vehicle purchase. The Ford F150 has some cool features. There are little cameras in the front of the truck under the Ford logo. These cameras give you a 360-degree camera system that you can operate from the cab. The 8-inch touch screen on the dash gives you the option to have a panoramic or split screen view. The backup cameras and the blind spot warning will help you avoid accidents and be one of the safest drivers on the road. The truck also has cruise control that allows you to keep a certain distance from cars in front of you, and automatic parallel parking for those who don't quite have the eye for it.

While the F150 has some impressive features, the 2015 Silverado 1500 has quite a few amazing features itself. If you're tired of losing 4G connection on your cell phone or tablets while taking road trips, you'll love the Silverado's built-in 4G Wi-Fi. It connects to up to seven devices at once, so your kids can watch movies or play games while you keep your GPS working smoothly. The MyLink feature on your dash will allow you to play music, call a friend or start navigation without looking down from the road. You can connect your phone to your dash system and navigate it with your natural voice commands.

The 2015 Silverado and F150 are both nice and reliable trucks with many great features. The one you choose will depend on the features that are important to you. While the F150 can haul a heavier load, the Silverado has WiFi, a voice-activated dash, and better gas mileage for the engine.

Taking Care Of Your Car

Nothing is more frustrating than dealing with car problems, especially when you are on a long road trip. Unfortunately, if you are like most people, you might overlook key car maintenance responsibilities, which can land you in hot water on the road. A few years ago, I was traveling to visit my cousin in California, when my car died right in the middle of the desert. I didn't know what to do, but I knew that the problem was probably caused by not changing my car oil. This blog is dedicated to helping other car owners know how to take care of things, so that you aren't left in dangerous situations.
